The ethics of governing and managing a nonprofit

 2 hours CPE – Ethics

Laura Otten, Ph.D., Director of The Nonprofit Center at LaSalle University’s School of Business

Nonprofits constantly make decisions that involve ethical standards, values codes, practices and principles.  Yet too often, these decisions are made based on legal statutes, convenience, money, and many other factors, without being seen through the ethics lens.   Do nonprofits have an obligation beyond those of other businesses to be as ethical as they possibly can?  This talk will explore those decision points—from hiring an executive director to creating personnel policies to accepting gifts, and more—where a nonprofit’s failure to consider the ethical considerations can detour an organization in the wrong direction and start a risky slide down that slippery slope.
